More About Fishers, Indiana

In 2017, TIME Money ranked Fishers, Indiana, the number one place to live in the U.S. With a population of more than 91,000, Fishers is one of the fastest growing communities in Central Indiana and has received several accolades for livability, safety and entrepreneurship. William Connor settled Fishers in 1802 when he build a log cabin and trading post along the White River, which is now known as Conner Prairie and serves as a living history museum. Fishers also boasts the historic Ambassador House and Heritage Gardens, and the Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve, increasing the quality of life for residents and bringing in visitors year-round.

Located 16 miles from Indianapolis, Fishers boasts a lively downtown area called the Nickel Plate District. This area has been developed as a walkable destination for shopping, working and dining. The Nickel Plate District Amphitheater hosts concerts and movies throughout the summer, in addition to festivals throughout the fall and winter.

The city has developed into a smart and vibrant city, with a dedication to supporting high-growth companies and innovative city processes. Organizations such as the Fishers Art Council, Fishers Park and Recreation, and the Southeastern Program of Recreational Team Sports make Fishers an attractive city to live, work and play.

An upcoming $40 million development called The Yard is set to open in the spring of 2019, with 18 new restaurants, and a 3,000-square-foot culinary incubator to encourage food entrepreneurs to launch to concepts. Fishers also boasts 24 parks and 104 miles of multi-use trails. In fact, the highest peak in Hamilton County is in Flat Fork Creek Park, creating the perfect sledding hill during Indiana’s snowy winters.

The city is part of the Hamilton Southeastern School District, which serves more than 20,000 students. The high school graduation rate in Fishers is 95% with two high schools serving the district: Hamilton Southeastern High School and Fishers High School. And investment of $10 million was made in these two schools to build state-of-the-art College and Career Academy additions, which allow students to experience a more relaxed, college campus-like experience.

  • review rating 5  Personal and professional, everyone always takes great care of my sensitive mouth teen! This is our first experience with needing orthodontia, when it’s time for my youngest to get braces, we’ll choose this place again in a heartbeat. From the team up front to the team in the back, everyone is so nice and yet so efficiently on task, it is quite impressive. They have reasonable pricing and are willing to help with a payment plan. Keep up the great work!!

  • review rating 5  This 64 year old had teeth that had begun to overlap in my adult years, which was attributed to having 4 good teeth removed as a child for "Crowded teeth". I waited to fund Invisalign until incurring no penalty for taking IRA funds, other than taxes. I was fortunate to be referred to Dr. Jason Bunch by my dentist, Dr. Jack Nicewander. Dr. Bunch and his Carmel, IN office staff see numerous children and young adults, but welcome the young at heart as well. I trust them and find them accommodating, efficient, professional and compassionate.
